April 20, 2010-The remarkable story of Atlanta Braves' rookie Jason Heyward continued on tuesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves were dead in the water
and were heading for a 3-0 loss to the Phills. But Troy Glaus came through with a clutch 2 out, 2-run home run off of closer Ryan Madson to cut the Phillies lead to 3-2.
And up to plate stepped Heyward.
Braves' fans were probably thinking "Can this kid do it again?". Well, yes he can! Jason Heyward hit a game tying solo home run, also off of Phillies closer Ryan Madson.
It was Heyward's 4th home run of the season. The legend of Jason Heyward just keep growing and growing.
And for this kid to keep coming through in clutch situations is unbelievable because he is so young. But he
hits like a veteran super star. In the first two weeks of his Major League career, Jason Heyward has 4 homers, 16 RBI and is batting .298. He also has 3 doubles.
The only negative so far in Heyward's young career is his strikeouts. He has struck out 17 times. That's alot of whiffs. But if he can cut those down, there is no
telling what this young man can do.
Jason Heyward's solo shot tied the score 3-3 and the game went to extra innings. That's when another Atlanta Braves player came through in the clutch. Nate Mclouth stepped up
against Phillies pitcher Jose Contreras and crushed a game winning home run as the Braves win 4-3. What will Jason Heyward do next? Stay tuned. This kid may just be
getting started.
