April 12, 2010-It has a very interesting and exciting week for the Atlants Braves super rookie Jason Heyward. He has already seen some ups and downs
In his first major league ball game, he hit a home run in first big league at bat off Carlos Zambrano of the Chicago Cubs.
Then he came back down to reality a little bit and started to struggle as the pitchers made some adjustments. Heyward went
0-10 including striking out four times in one ball game.
But then the Braves went to San Francisco to play the Giants and Jason Heyward had a very nice series there. He hit two more
homers and he made some adjustments of his own at the plate. After that first home run, the NL pitchers started throwing
him off-speed stuff on the outside corner of the plate. So what does Jason Heyward do? He started taking that pitch to
the opposite field. His homers in San Fran were to left field. A very smart adjustment from such a young kid like Heyward.
If he keeps this up, he will be a .300 hitter with 40 bombs a year. I know that's a lot to ask of a 20 year old kid like
Jason Heyward. But everyone is raving about this kid and I wouldn't put it past him.
And Jason Heyward rookie cards are red hot on eBay right now. His 2007 autograph cards are selling as fast as sellers can
get them up for auction. Even some of his 2008 autograph stuff is moving like crazy. For example, the 2008 Bowman Chrome
Jason Heyward auto card is selling for big money, and the refractors have sky-rocketed in price. It will be very interesting
to see just high these cards go as the 2010 baseball moves on. If Jason Heyward continues to prduce and get better, look
for all of his cards to get welding hot.
